Stephen Godsoe Exhibits at Richard Boyd Art Gallery
Richard Boyd Art Gallery welcomes Stephen Godsoe to the group of artists represented by the gallery in Southern Maine. Steve is an award winning educator and multi-talented fine artist with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of Maine.
A twelfth generation Mainer, Stephen comes from a long line of commercial and fine artists. The first being a cartographer who created maps in the 1700’s with hand drawn symbols and structures. Many of Steve’s paintings depict scenes of people and places from his travels and life in countries around the globe.
Primarily self-taught, Steve’s paintings depict a range of scenes across multiple genres including landscapes and portraits. Working with a variety of mediums his portfolio includes exquisitely detailed realistic paintings of people and places, and expressionistic semi-abstract paintings full of vibrant colors and rich tones.
Throughout his career as an educator Steve always found time to paint. “My early paintings and one-man shows in Washington, DC included many large detailed paintings of indigenous people and architectural structures found in Brazil where my wife and I lived in the early 1970’s. Recently, I’m painting with acrylics and creating more freely done landscapes.”
Steve’s paintings are held in private collections around the globe.
