DESCRIPTION:Richard Boyd Art Gallery welcomes Stephen Godsoe to the grou
 p of artists represented by the gallery in Southern Maine. Steve is an a
 ward winning educator and multi-talented fine artist with a Bachelor of 
 Arts degree and a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics from the Universi
 ty of Maine.\n\nA twelfth generation Mainer\, Stephen comes from a long 
 line of commercial and fine artists. The first being a cartographer who 
 created maps in the 1700’s with hand drawn symbols and structures. Man
 y of Steve's paintings depict scenes of people and places from his trave
 ls and life in countries around the globe.\n\nPrimarily self-taught\, St
 eve’s paintings depict a range of scenes across multiple genres includ
 ing landscapes and portraits. Working with a variety of mediums his port
 folio includes exquisitely detailed realistic paintings of people and pl
 aces\, and expressionistic semi-abstract paintings full of vibrant color
 s and rich tones.\n\nThroughout his career as an educator Steve always f
 ound time to paint. “My early paintings and one-man shows in Washingto
 n\, DC included many large detailed paintings of indigenous people and a
 rchitectural structures found in Brazil where my wife and I lived in the
  early 1970’s. Recently\, I’m painting with acrylics and creating mo
 re freely done landscapes.”\n\nSteve’s paintings are held in private
