Portland Downtown is pleased to announce that nominations are open for six property owner seats on its board of directors. Property owners in the downtown district (see map here) may submit a nomination online at portlandmaine.com/nominations. The deadline to submit a nomination is April 30, 2020.

“It’s an exciting time to join our board,” said Kim Farrar, VP of strategic initiatives at Avesta Housing and chair of Portland Downtown’s governance committee. “We are in the process of hiring a new executive director, who will take the helm after our leader for the past five years, Casey Gilbert. We also have a brand new five-year organizational strategic plan. Our incoming board members will have an active role in implementing the plan and helping us achieve our mission of creating a clean, safe, and vibrant downtown.”

After the nominations process, Portland Downtown will conduct its board elections online via a platform called Election Runner. Property owners within the district will receive unique voting credentials and voting instructions in the mail in June.

Portland Downtown’s six open property owner seats will round out the organization’s diverse board, which is comprised of property owners and other stakeholders representing a wide range of sectors including Retail, Residential, Professional Services, Financial, Restaurant, Accommodations, Entertainment/Nightlife, and Cultural/Nonprofit.
