Ever Heard Of Lobster ‘Paw’trol? Turns Out Pups Love Lobstering, Too!
Turns out pups can have lobstering careers, too! Scan to uncover the story of Bruin, a local dog that had an official lobster license.
This statue of lobsterman H. Elroy ‘Snoody’ Johnson honors all lobstermen for their skill and dedication. Snoody’s trusted companion, Bruin the dog, joined him on nearly every lobster trip during his doggy years. Known to Snoody as “the smartest dog in the world,” he said Bruin could see lobsters and know if they were ‘shorts’ or ‘counters,’ lobstering terms for when they are either below or above the legal size limit. While local lobstermen had wished Bruin was featured in this statue with his owner, there was a fun twist at the statue’s 1939 unveiling: Bruin received an official lobster license from the Commissioner of Sea and Shore Fisheries. Way to go, Bruin!
