Lynne Drexler: All the Decades
We have been strong believers in Lynne Drexler’s vision since the gallery opened in 2004 and thrilled to share works spanning four decades. In recent years, Drexler’s (1928-1999) recognition and popularity with collectors has soared with features in nearly every major art publication. While living on Monhegan Island, she developed her signature style which layered small, repetitive brush marks across large areas of canvas and employed color to “heighten optical energy”. Drexler’s work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Art Institute of Chicago, National Gallery of Art, Washington DC, Farnsworth Art Museum, Portland Museum of Art, Monhegan Museum, Maine, Hammer Museum, LA and many others.
