Open mic from 6-6:30
All ages, no pre-sign up necessary – share your work before the slam begins! Please limit to one piece, about 3 minutes to make sure everyone who wants to has the opportunity to share.

Poetry Slam from 6:30-8
For poets 18 years and younger. Young poets of color especially encouraged to participate! Pre-register to participate in the competition portion of this evening.

Slam Rules:
Please share only your original work
Memorization is not required
You will have 3 minutes, with 10 second grace period. Half a point will be deducted from your final score for each additional 10 seconds used!
There will be a panel of 5 judges scoring each piece from 0-10. The Highest and lowest score will be dropped, and the middle three combined for a total score out of 30.

The winner of the slam will receive a cash prize, a Maine Irish Heritage Center Memento, and the opportunity to ring our Historic bell!
This evening has a $5 suggested cover and is free to MIHC members.
