Hearing the Light | An Evening of Traditional Mi’kmaq Storytelling with David Lonebear
David Lonebear Sanipass is an Elder, Artist, and Storyteller from the Mi’kmaq Nation. He weaves traditional Mi’kmaq stories with his personal experiences while offering a different and unique perspective on life. This performance is a storytelling event that will weave Mi’kmaq teachings about “Hearing the Light” as well as a fundraiser for the White Bear Project.
The White Bear Project seeks to record David Lonebear painting images of the ancient Mi’kmaq Story of the White Bear alongside him telling the story. The story tells how the Mi’kmaq and their teachings came here. The project will expand knowledge and shine a light on a history currently untold. A documentary film and prints of David’s painting will be made available. This story is in the Mi’kmaq prophecies, one that can be shared now with all people around the world.
