50 Years of Hip-Hop
Friday August 11th from 5-8pm we’re celebrating Hip-Hop’s 50th Anniversary in Congress Square Park!
Enjoy music performances from 32 French, Assasi, Damn Jamn, and DJ set by Graphic Melee. Dance performance by Liza May, a B-Boy + B-Girl exhibition, and live mural painting by Dynamo P and ClvnoGrigio Art.
Why August 11th?
On August 11, 1973 a back to school jam hosted by Kool Herc in the rec room of the 1520 Sedgwick Avenue apartment building in The Bronx gave birth to something huge. This date and event mark what many view as the inception of Hip-Hop as we know it.
