SUMMARY:The Moorings of Mackerel Sky
DESCRIPTION:Vivid Motion Dance is proud to collaborate with local author
MZ to present new dance works inspired by MZ’s debut novel\, The Moor
ings of Mackerel Sky. See the spoiler-free show live and go home with yo
ur copy of the book – three weeks before it is available for the gener
al public!\nThis all ages show runs for one night only at 7:00 p.m. and
9:00 p.m. on Tuesday\, February 6th at The Hill Arts on Munjoy Hill in P
ortland ME. Tickets are on sale now at vividmotion.org and include a sig
ned advance copy of the novel.\nThey say Mackerel Sky was founded when C
aptain Burrbank first saw Nimuë the Mermaid and forgot the sea. Stricke
n by love\, he moored his tall ship and made camp on the highest cliff\,
hoping to forever gaze upon her beauty. That camp became a settlement\,
the settlement a town\, the town a community both blessed and cursed by
their tempestuous affair.\nThree hundred years later\, the legend of th
e Mermaid and the Captain who loved her still invigorates and haunts the
inhabitants of the small Maine lobstering town. In this close-knit town
famous for its infamous mermaids\, community is built through love and
lore—willful elements that the townsfolk will have to harness if Macke
rel Sky is to endure for another three hundred years.\nWHO: MZ &amp\; Vi
