DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, September 14 at 7PM the Tate House Museum pre
 sents the third in its series of outdoor lectures on the lawn of the mus
 eum.\nNathan Lipfert\, Curator Emeritus of the Maine Maritime Museum\, w
 ill offer an illustrated talk about the history of Maine shipyards\, and
  the shipbuilders and vessels they built\, concentrating on the 200 year
 s since statehood. During the wooden shipbuilding era\, Maine shipyards 
 built more ships than any other state\, and every coastal community part
 icipated in this industry. Maine continues as an important shipbuilding 
 region into the present\, providing well-paid skilled employment to thou
 sands of people who build vessels of wood\, metal\, and composite materi
 als that have an impact around the world.\nLipfert’s presentation will
  be based on research from his recently published book\, Two Centuries o
 f Maine Shipbuilding: A Visual History. (book will be available for sale
