DESCRIPTION:Join the taste tour of the Caribbean for Taíno-inspired tre
 ats\, including delicious veggie dishes\, tropical fruit drinks\, and de
 sserts by local caterers. The taste tour will be followed by a discussio
 n by Priscilla Colón\, on some of the foods’ origins\, names\, and de
 eper meanings within Taíno culture.\n\nThis event is sponsored by Quier
 o Cafe.\n\nThis tasting is one part of a Taíno Mini-Conference funded b
 y the Maine Humanities Council\, in collaboration with local Taíno comm
 unity leader\, Sayalí Robles\, from South Portland\, ME\; founder of Ca
 sa Areyto\, Priscilla Colón\, from Nashua\, NH\; and the directors of B
 omba De Aquí\, Brendalíz Cepeda and Saul Peñaloza\, from Granby\, MA.
 \n\nAs described by Priscilla Colón\, the principal goal of the project
  is to\, “raise general awareness of Taíno indigenous culture—not j
 ust its existence but how it's thrived &amp\; become part of every other
  culture in the world.” This lineage can be traced through food\, lang
