SUMMARY:Taíno Petroglyphs for Kids Workshop
DESCRIPTION:For thousands of years\, Taíno artists carved special symbo
 ls into cave walls and decorative rocks. For this workshop\, we get to b
 e rock artists\, too!\n\nDuring the event\, we’ll spot the spiral\, co
 qui frog\, sun\, and baby symbols in ancient rock carvings. We’ll lear
 n their Taíno names\, and then we’ll make our own special rock design
 s to take home with us!\n\nAll ages are welcome.\n\nThis event is one pa
 rt of a Taíno Mini-Conference funded by the Maine Humanities Council. A
 s described by Priscilla Colón\, the principal goal of the project is t
 o\, “raise general awareness of Taíno indigenous culture—not just i
 ts existence but how it's thrived &amp\; become part of every other cult
 ure in the world.” This lineage can be traced through food\, language\
