 mbers of the renowned Portland String Quartet perform works from their c
 anon.\n\nThe Portland String Quartet remains one of Maine’s long lasti
 ng cultural institutions\, and has been locking up honors and acclaim fo
 r decades. The PSQ has had an enormous impact locally\, regionally and i
 nternationally since its inception in 1969.\n\nBeginning as The Portland
  Symphony String Quartet (PSSQ)\, the quartet members became not only pr
 incipal players in the Portland Symphony Orchestra\, they established te
 aching studios\, school music positions and chamber music concerts servi
 ng the greater Portland area and the State of Maine full time.\n\nThey h
 ave received rave reviews from The New York Times\, The Boston Globe\, t
 he Washington Star and Washington Post\, the Miami Herald\, the Portland
  Press Herald\, the Maine Sunday Telegram\, as well as from numerous cri
 tics for newspapers\, recording magazines and organizations including th
 e Maine Arts Commission and the Paul Foundation. Their discography inclu
 des over two dozen recordings which span the literature from Bach’s Ar
 t of the Fugue\, Beethoven\, Schubert and Dvorak to contemporary compose
