SUMMARY:Palaver Strings’ Through the Looking Glass
DESCRIPTION:For Palaver Strings' final chamber concert of the year\, the
 y’ll explore some of the new musical ideas that propel chamber music t
 radition into the future. The evening begins with Caeroline Shaw’s Ent
 r’acte\, composed in response to a Haydn quartet\, and in dialogue wit
 h the classical tradition in general. Riffing on classical gestures\, Sh
 aw’s music takes us\, in her words\, to “the other side of Alice’s
  looking glass\, in a kind of absurd\, subtle\, technicolor transition.�
 ��\n\nThey’ll continue with a new set of original fiddle tunes by Pala
 ver’s own violist\, Elizabeth Moore\, and conclude with Florence Price
 ’s A Minor String Quartet\, which incorporates both twentieth-century 
 compositional ideas and African-American vernacular music.\n\nWe hope yo
 u will join Palaver Strings for this journey beyond the looking glass\, 
 as we catch a glimpse of a bold and brilliant future for their craft.
