DESCRIPTION:In the throes of a New England winter\, we hope that “Pain
 ted Dreams” helps you close your eyes and think of sunnier times. We b
 egin with Reena Esmail’a duo Nadiya. Next we’ll play Jeffrey Mumford
 ’s beautifully layered and textured string quartet\, A Veil of Liquid 
 Diamonds. An avid painter as well as a composer\, Mumford writes that hi
 s work is “inspired by cloud imagery\, suspended structures that conti
 nually split off and recombine as analogous to the formation of layers o
 f simultaneous musical development.” We’ll wrap up the program with 
 Tchaikovsky’s dashing and daring Souvenir de Florence string sextet. H
 e wrote this piece on one of his visits to Italy\, drawing on both Itali
 an themes and the Russian melodies of his homeland.\n\nPalaver Strings i
 s a musician-led string ensemble and nonprofit organization based in Por
 tland\, ME. Founded in 2014\, Palaver has established itself as a forwar
 d-thinking ensemble whose mission is to strengthen and inspire community
  through music. In our musician-led model\, Palaver’s musicians share 
 artistic and administrative leadership\, guided by a passion for engagin
 g new audiences\, addressing social justice issues\, and amplifying unde
