  a closer look at Connolly's debut novel.\n\nStep into a day in the life
  of an Irish immigrant family\, see what makes them laugh\, feel what ma
 kes them cry. In his novel\, author and historian Michael Connolly intro
 duces us to the Folan's\, a family of Irish immigrants scratching out a 
 living in the coastal city of Portland\, Maine at the turn of the 20th c
 entury. Connolly masterfully introduces Portland’s history and Irish c
 ulture through the experiences of his characters and reflects on the str
 uggles of immigrants everywhere.\n\nThere will be no charge to enter the
  event. 50% of book sales will benefit the Maine Irish Heritage Center.
