DESCRIPTION:Maine’s Housing Crisis is characterized by a shortage of a
 ffordable housing options\, a high demand for rental properties\, and an
  increase in housing costs that exceed wage growth. This crisis is exace
 rbated by a lack of new construction and an aging housing stock that req
 uires costly renovations to meet modern standards. Additionally\, homele
 ssness\, lack of workforce housing\, and housing insecurity are signific
 ant issues\, with many individuals and families struggling to find stabl
 e housing. From rent-burdened tenants to employee recruitment\, homeless
 ness and unattainable housing\, Maine’s Housing Crisis is an issue tha
 t negatively impacts daily life for all Mainers in one way or another.\n
 \nMEREDA’s 2023 Spring Conference takes a deep dive into the issue thr
 ough the lens of a diverse group of speakers. Developers\, housing advoc
 ates\, economists\, and economic development directors all take the stag
 e to discuss the issues from their perspective.\n\nWe'll also unveil the
