SUMMARY:Free Classical Music Performance
DESCRIPTION:Musical selections performed by graduate students of The Jui
lliard School\,\ninspired by current Museum exhibits.\n\nPairing works b
y Monet\, Renoir\, German Expressionists and contemporary Maine artist K
atherine Bradford\, the Bach Virtuosi Festival Associates will perform a
Debussy Quartet\, a Haydn Quartet\, and solo works by Johann Sebastian
Bach.\n\n"We chose to perform these pieces because we felt there was a c
omplexity to the colors that related well to the music\," says violinist
Leerone Hakami. "We are deeply moved by the brush strokes of each work\
, and we felt that each related nicely to Bach and the other composers f
or the period they represented. For example\, Debussy identifies beautif
ully with the German Expressionism era and the keys and harmonies of Bac
h's fundamentalism pair well with the era of Monet and Renoir. Plus\, th
ere is a timelessness to Bach that comes together perfectly with Bradfor
 d's contemporary work."
