SUMMARY:Enter the Haggis in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Celtic rockers\, Enter the Haggis will serve up songs from t
heir musical catalog at Portland’s historic StateTheatre on Saturday\,
September 17 at 8:00. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 on day of show
. Doors open at 7:00.\n\nWith nine studio albums\, five live albums\, an
d music in several feature films\, Enter the Haggis has a large repertoi
re from which to choose a set-list.\n\nInstrumental choices are plentifu
l\, too. Brian Buchanan\, Trevor Lewington and Craig Downie share an ass
ortment of eight instruments between them\, including trumpet\, Irish wh
istles\, bagpipes\, and fiddle. Classic rock instrumentation backs their
multi-textured sound.\n\nAlways at the vanguard of the Celtic-inspired
music scene\, ETH has become a genre unto themselves. Their lyrics hold
meaning and promise with their fans\, and their musicianship holds respe
ct from musical peers.\n\nBrett Elliott\, Executive Director of Connecti
cut’s Katherine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center\, said of Enter the Haggi
s\, “Energy and excitement! This group engaged the audience from the f
irst beat\, and after doing an acoustic tune in the audience at the end
of the show\, became an instant crowd favorite.”\n\nNo strangers to th
e Portland area\, the six-member band has regularly entertained audience
s at the State Theatre\, the old Port City Music Hall and has recorded m
ultiple Studio Z sessions at the WCLZ radio.\n\nTheir latest album\, "Th
e Archer's Parade\," was released in March of 2020 and immediately sidel
ined by the pandemic. Fortunately\, live music is back in force\, and so
is Enter the Haggis.\n\nPortland’s State Theatre was built in 1929\,
opening with Gloria Swanson’s first talking film. The theatre features
elaborate Art Deco and Moorish architecture and has been refurbished se
veral times over the past 60 years. The most recent improvement was the
first-time installation of air conditioning in July 2022. The 1860 seat
theater hosts live concert performances most nights of the week. For mor
