 of Stroudwater Neighborhood\, will offer a program focused on how Europe
 an colonists used the herb garden for culinary and medicinal purposes. H
 er talk will also include information about how the Wabanaki people used
  particular plants such as the needles of white pine trees to benefit he
 alth.\nThe presentation will be followed by a tasting of three natural a
 nd herb teas: white pine tea\, lemon balm-lavender tea\, and dandelion r
 oot tea\, supplemented with fresh herbed butter cookies. Participants ar
 e encouraged to bring along a teacup for the tasting (BYOTC).\nPresenter
  Colleen Griffin has a degree in horticulture and a passion for herbal m
 edicine. She has taken several courses in growing\, drying\, and prepari
 ng medicinal herbs\, and is a registered horticultural therapist practic
 ing in Southern Maine. She is currently an independent contractor workin
 g with the Dempsey Center for Quality Cancer Care and is a volunteer for
  the University of Maine’s Master Gardener program. She formerly worke
 d with the Bonny Eagle School district running a greenhouse program for 
 special needs students in grades 6-12.\nCost is $15 for the general publ
 ic and $12 for Tate House Museum members. Advance ticket purchase is req
 uired and can be obtained by visiting tatehouse.org.\nThe program is lim
 ited to 25 people and tickets will not be sold at the door.
