SUMMARY:Chris Dingman &amp\; Kate Beever: Songs\, Sounds &amp\; Stories
 of Healing
DESCRIPTION:Join two mallet percussionists for a night of songs\, immers
ive sounds\, and stories about their work using music to help others hea
l.\n\nNYC-based vibraphonist and composer Chris Dingman is known for his
distinctive approach to the instrument: sonically rich and conceptually
expansive. In his captivating solo performances\, he casts an envelopin
g atmosphere\, creating layers of simultaneous sound.. It’s an immersi
ve listening experience that many have described as transportive and dee
ply healing.\n\nHaving worked with legendary artists Herbie Hancock and
Wayne Shorter\, and with next-generation visionaries such as Ambrose Aki
nmusire\, Linda May Han Oh\, and Steve Lehman\, Dingman brings together
his experience in modern jazz with a host of influences from around the
world in service of taking listeners on a journey to a transcendent plac
e.\n\nOn his path to becoming a solo artist\, he documented his improvis
ations privately for many years\, until his world changed. When his fath
er entered hospice care in 2018\, he created the 5-hour extended album P
eace\, recorded as he played it for his father\, and ultimately released
in 2020. This led to an ongoing exploration of his solo music and his c
ritically acclaimed albums journeys vol. 1 and vol. 2 \, which have been
described as “hypnotic” (The New York Times)\, “spellbinding” (
Bandcamp)\, “absolutely beautiful” (Jazz at Lincoln Center)\, and
solo masterpieces” (Downbeat).\n\nChris is actively touring\, perform
ing in concert\, healing\, and hybrid modalities for audiences around th
e world\, both in person and online. Recent concert performances include
Omega Institute (Rhinebeck)\, Timucua Arts (Orlando)\, The Jazz Gallery
  (New York)\, Constellation (Chicago)\, Lawrence University (Appleton)\,
Redwood Jazz Alliance (Eureka)\, and many others including a 10-date so
lo tour of the US supported by a grant from South Arts.\n\nChris has per
formed around the world including in India\, Vietnam\, and extensively i
n Europe and North America. He has been profiled by NPR\, the New York T
imes\, Downbeat\, AMNY and many other publications\, and has received fe
llowships and grants from Chamber Music America\, New Music USA\, South
Arts\, and the Thelonious Monk Institute. Hailed by the New York Times a
s a “dazzling” soloist and a composer with a “fondness for airtigh
t logic and burnished lyricism\,” the fluidity of his musical approach
has earned him praise as “an extremely gifted composer\, bandleader\,
  and recording artist.” (Jon Weber\, NPR).\n\nKate Beever\, MA\, MT-BC
\, studied percussion performance at the USM School of Music and then wo
rked for Frank Glazer before earning her Master’s degree in Music Psyc
hotherapy from New York University. She interned at Beth Israel Medical
Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She returned to the f
resh air of Maine to open Maine Music &amp\; Health\, LLC. Maine Music &
amp\; Health helps those with illnesses and disabilities reach their goa
ls through the power of music. Kate’s business was the SBA’s 2017 Mi
croenterprise of the Year and won $10\,000 from Robert Herjavec in the I
NC Magazine and UPS Store’s Small Business Challenge in Los Angeles. M
M&amp\;H has developed music &amp\; wellness programs with Maine Medical
Center\, York Hospital\, the Dempsey Center\, Boston College\, the Port
land and Bangor Symphony Orchestras\, and worked with thousands of clien
ts with medical needs. In addition to playing solo and with orchestras\,
Kate has performed in bands supporting Emilia Dahlin\, Jeff Beam\, Zach
  Jones\, and others.
